Integrated Mailing Solutions (IMS) was awarded ISO/IEC 27001:2005 in June last year and has successfully passed its second six-monthly audit. IMS achieved the internationally recognised accreditation for all of its services which includes mail opening, printing, fulfilment, document scanning and data capture, stationery and franking. IMS also remains the only printing, scanning and mailing specialist in the Isle of Man and Channel Islands to achieve and hold this accreditation.
ISO/IEC 27001:2005 focuses on the establishment, maintenance and continuous improvement of an Information Management System. This system demonstrates a company’s technical, physical and environmental security. It also monitors the effectiveness of an incident management process and a robust business continuity plan.
Tony Smith, Management Systems Lead Assessor of governing body Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA), visited IMS to carry out an audit to ensure the security system and processes it has in place for dealing with client data, are of the highest standard and continue to meet the requirements of the accreditation.
Tony said: “The activities, documents and records sampled showed that Isle of Man Post Office’s Integrated Mailing Solutions operates an appropriate Information Security Management Solutions which continues to meet the requirements of ISO/IEC 27001:2005. It is clear IMS continues to show that it takes information security very seriously.”
Despite holding the accreditation for a year, IMS is still subject to ongoing compliance and monitoring to ensure that it continues to comply with the standard. IMS’s processes will continue to be independently assessed every six months for a further two years and after that annually. Meanwhile IMS must perform internal audits between these official assessments.
Tony Randle, General Manager IMS said: “We are delighted to possess ISO/IEC 27001:2005 for the first full year. Having this internationally recognised accreditation demonstrates our commitment to providing the most secure environment for our clients and their data.”
He added: “Businesses constantly need to know there are robust systems in place which protect one of their most valuable assets, their data. At IMS we understand this need and make it our number one priority to ensure data is handled correctly in order to give our customers complete peace of mind. To compliment ISO/IEC 27001:2005 and our commitment to our clients, we are working towards achieving ISO 9001, the quality management systems accreditation.”
